April 15 newsletter

Reading News
In reading this week, we have been working on generating questions before and during reading.  The students have loved this because they are a very inquisitive class.  It has really helped them to think and question what they are reading and it helps them to be a more thoughtful reader.

Writing
We are working on writing animal reports.  The students have worked in groups to research an animal and we are working on putting our information into a report.

Your opinion, please
I would like to do a small mother’s day activity on May 6, including a gift, picnic lunch and students reading their writing to their moms.  I would also like to do an end of the year picture slide show on May 27 at 2:00ish.  I worry these two different dates would be difficult for working parents or parents with small children.  Please let me know what you think by checking below or writing a note.  I will tell you the results of the survey and the final dates next week.  Also, keep in mind that we plan to take a field trip May 10 or May 11 to Asbury's ropes course.

___ I would like two separate dates for the end of the year celebration and the Mother’s day celebration.
___ I would like the two events combined.
___  I can help with these celebrations!

Math News
In math this week, we learned about 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, 1 less.  We have been practicing this a lot because it is a difficult skill.  We are also learning about the greater than (>) and less than sign (<) and using these signs to compare numbers.
