A Peek at our week
We have been busy this week!  We are learning about animals in science. We have learned about the characteristics of birds, amphibeans and reptiles so far.  In reading, we are learning to compare and contrast books.  In writing, we are writing reports about animals.  In math, we are working on adding two 2 digit numbers.

Show and Tell on Monday
We filled up another smart chart!  Monday will be show and tell.  Your child can bring a toy to school to share with their classmates.  They will also be allowed to play with their toy during recess.  Please do not send any video games.  Also, please do not send anything too expensive or special.  I do not want anything to get lost or broken.

Legends Ticket
Please look in your child’s folder for  tickets to the Lexington Legends Baseball game.  Our school night is Saturday, April 9th.  If you are unable to make the WES night your tickets will be valid for a Legends game on either May 1st or 2nd.  If you will not be using your ticket you may return it to your child’s teacher for another family to use.

Thank you
Thank you for the donations for our class basket.  It turned out amazing!  I don’t know how much it went for yet, but when I find out I will let you know.  Also, thanks for being understanding of my time to do my practicum.  I was in the library at Dunbar High School.  High school is very different, but I learned a lot!  I am so glad to be back!

This week’s news…
In reading, we are learning about the long o sound spelled oa (like in goat).  We are comparing and contrasting books.  Also, we are writing on demand pieces for our writing portfolios.  Your students are amazing writers!  I am so proud of their progress.  We are also learning about the different groups of animals and their characteristics.  We are in desperate need of kleenex and glue sticks if  you could send these in I would appreciate it.

Your child has the chance to earn two free tickets to watch the Lexington Legends play baseball at Applebee’s Park.   The reading log that you already do as a part of our weekly homework counts for the four books you have to read!  Our scheduled day at the ballpark is Saturday, April 9th (7:05 p.m. start time).  Your child will receive his/her bookmark the week of the game, but we want you to mark your calendars now!!  Every student in the school is eligible for this promotion.  We hope you will join us at the ballpark.
If you are unable to attend the game on WES night, your tickets will be honored at the games on May 1st and 2nd at 7:05.

parent conference chats

The Jessamine County Board voted to go all day on March 23 to make up a snow day.  Therefore, I will not be able to meet with you for a conference on March 23 in the afternoon.  I will re-schedule conferences when I return to school.
